In collaboration with ASHI
BICASA partnered with ASHi to deliver a fully integrated, high‑performance research laboratory for Thermo Fisher in Italy. The project brought together suspended systems, mobile benching, containment solutions, technical spines, and modular partitions — all engineered to support complex scientific workflows with precision and long‑term adaptability.
Suspended Infrastructure: IKARO Full
The laboratory’s core services are supported by the IKARO Full suspended beam system, designed to keep the workspace open, flexible, and easily maintainable.
- Aluminum supports and frame for lightweight strength
- Steel side panels for durability
- V0‑rated plastic utility panels for safe, compliant service routing
This overhead system ensures utilities remain accessible while preserving a clean, uncluttered footprint.
Mobile Partitioning with DOCKWALL
To create adaptable zones within the research space, the installation includes the DOCKWALL mobile partition system, offering both structure and transparency.
- Steel structure with aluminum uprights
- V0 plastic utility panels for integrated services
- Metal or particleboard closing panels
- 3+3 safety glass for visibility and protection
DOCKWALL allows the client to reconfigure work areas quickly while maintaining safety and workflow continuity.
Mobile Benching: KOMPATTO
The lab features multiple configurations of KOMPATTO mobile benches, selected for their stability, maneuverability, and compatibility with evolving research needs.
- Steel base for rigidity
- Aluminum uprights to reduce vibration
- Aluminum/steel worktop support
- Worktops in HPL or Trespa TopLab® Plus, depending on the zone
These benches allow teams to adapt the space as equipment, processes, or research priorities shift.
Technical Spine: MECC
The MECC wall‑mounted technical spine provides a structured, modular backbone for utilities and equipment integration.
- Steel structure
- Aluminum uprights
- V0 plastic utility panels
This system keeps utilities organized and accessible while supporting a clean, high‑efficiency workspace.
High‑Performance Containment: RX Smart Fume Hoods
To support sensitive research activities, the lab incorporates RX Smart fume hoods, engineered for reliability and ergonomic operation.
- Aluminum structure and sash
- HPL worktop
- Particleboard base cabinets
These hoods deliver consistent containment performance while maintaining a modern, streamlined aesthetic.
Safety Storage: ASECOS V‑Line Cabinets
For compliant chemical management, the installation includes ASECOS V‑Line safety cabinets, offering:
- 90‑minute fire resistance
- Motorized opening and closing for hands‑free, ergonomic access
These cabinets ensure safe, code‑compliant storage without interrupting workflow efficiency.
Localized Extraction: TERFU Spot Extractors
To manage particulate and localized emissions, the lab integrates TERFU spot extractors, designed for precision capture at the source.
- Aluminum tubes for lightweight maneuverability
- Polypropylene joints for chemical resistance and smooth articulation
These extractors enhance safety and air quality without limiting workspace flexibility.
A Cohesive, Future‑Ready Laboratory
Through close collaboration with ASHi and Thermo Fisher’s team, BICASA delivered a research environment that balances durability, adaptability, and technical precision. The combination of suspended beams, mobile partitions, mobile benching, containment systems, technical spines, and localized extraction creates a laboratory built to support both current research and future innovation.
